In nature, magenta appears only occasionally, which makes its presence in some of Australia’s most cherished and romantic locations all the more captivating. From rippling pink lakes to natural sculptures painted in magenta light, this is one colour to experience with someone special; witnessing it together will make you feel like the only people in the world.

Through the open car window, a warm salty breeze greets you. There’s no-one else around, the freedom is absolute. You cast your eyes across the bright pink lake stretching towards the horizon and wonder: is this real? The mystery and romance of Hutt Lagoon, located on Western Australia’s dreamy Coral Coast, has to be seen to be believed. Virtually everyone who witnesses this unusual natural sight reacts with amazement. Depending on the light, the vibrant colours can change from bright bubblegum pink to a lilac hue, and staring into the waters of one of nature's infinite mysteries, you will lose all sense of time. Drive coastal roads bathed in blush

It’s just the two of you on a spontaneous coastal drive; ahead lies an empty road, a craggy cliffside, and endless waves thumping the shoreline below. Quite suddenly you see them – immense sandstone pillars rising out of the ocean, bathed in the glow of a magenta sunrise. These astounding natural formations on the Great Ocean Road, collectively known as the 12 Apostles, are majestic at any time of day. But when viewed through the blush-tinged air of dawn, they take on a special kind of romance, and gazing at them dotting the coastline will leave you feeling that anything is possible.

Lose yourself in the magenta hues of the Kimberley

Deep-green vegetation, ancient red earth and bright white sand; the colours of Western Australia’s vast Kimberley wilderness seem almost too vivid to be real. But nothing matches the intensity of the region’s skies, which turn a luxurious magenta almost every time the sun rises or sets.
