Mado Restaurant
Mado Café and Restaurant is a sumptuously decorated, authentic Turkish restaurant perched on the Brisbane River in bustling South Bank. Mecca Bah, in the inner-city suburb of Fortitude Valley, is one of a family of modern Moroccan restaurants stretching from Melbourne to Cairns. The Brisbane restaurant, in the Emporium building, is an elegant, contemporary take on Middle Eastern dining with large al fresco areas and muted lighting. Start with chickpea battered mussels or some zippy Middle Eastern coleslaw, and move onto a zingy, tender lamb tagine with preserved lemon, green olive and harissa or a smoky, spiced swordfish from the grill. Black Hide Steakhouse
Get a genuine taste of old-world elegance at the upmarket Black Hide Steakhouse right in the city centre. Designed in classic revival style, with soaring ceilings, The Treasury Hotel, built from locally quarried sandstone and tuff was completed in 1928. Mu’ooz
Brisbane's West End is one of the city's most culturally diverse inner-city neighbourhoods. Spend the morning at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), the Queensland Museum and South Bank Parklands before taking the short stroll to Mu’ooz, a not-for-profit social enterprise restaurant serving traditional northern African cuisine. You'll find slow cooked meats like lamb qulwa or derho zigni – a favourite spicy beef or chicken curry flavoured with the much loved berberé and designed to be sopped up with the soft, spongy injera pancakes.
