Mecca Bah, in the inner-city suburb of Fortitude Valley, is one of a family of modern Moroccan restaurants stretching from Melbourne to Cairns. The Brisbane restaurant, in the Emporium building, is an elegant, contemporary take on Middle Eastern dining with large al fresco areas and muted lighting. Start with chickpea battered mussels or some zippy Middle Eastern coleslaw, and move onto a zingy, tender lamb tagine with preserved lemon, green olive and harissa or a smoky, spiced swordfish from the grill. Black Hide Steakhouse
