Day 1: Busselton and Dunsborough
Spend your day exploring Margaret River’s north coast, from the 150-year-old Busselton Jetty to some of Western Australia’s most breathtaking beaches.
Discover Busselton Jetty
Catch the train or walk the 1.8km (1.1mi) length of Busselton Jetty – a heritage-listed jetty that extends across the calm waters of Geographe Bay. Join a tour to access the Underwater Observatory, revealing myriad marine life under the ocean’s surface.
Spot migrating whales
If you’re visiting between August and November, hop aboard a whale-watching tour. You’ll spot huge humpback whales as they cruise, breach and splash their way along the coast during their annual migration.
Fly through the treetops
Soar across the ancient Ludlow Tuart Forest – home to giant 400-year-old trees, wildflowers and native wildlife – on an adventurous high ropes course. You’ll get your heart racing as you cross suspended bridges and take on zip lines.
Relax on white sand beaches
Margaret River’s irresistibly white beaches have it all: calm turquoise ocean, shady trees and plenty of family-friendly facilities. Throw a towel down at the scenic Meelup beach or Castle Rock Bay.
Go for pizza and beer
When it's time for lunch, enjoy a wood-fired pizza paired with a paddle of craft beer overlooking the Indian Ocean at Eagle Bay Brewing Co., a family-run restaurant, brewery and vineyard.
Soak in the view from Sugarloaf Rock
Catch one of the best sunsets in the region at the picturesque Sugarloaf Rock, a dramatic rock formation in the Indian Ocean. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife including birds, whales and playful dolphins.
Day 2: Yallingup
Explore the natural wonders that encompass the peaceful holiday township of Yallingup. Great surf breaks, epic caves and renowned cellar doors are all on offer.
Ride the waves
Margaret River is world-renowned for its incredible waves. Learn from the locals during a surf lesson in Yallingup, the perfect area for beginners and experienced surfers alike. You’ll learn the basics of surfing along with surf etiquette and safety.
Have a unique cave experience
Adorned with crystals, stalactites, stalagmites and helictites, Ngilgi Cave is a wonder that only gets better with a guided Aboriginal tour. Just wait until you hear the live didgeridoo performance echoing off the cave walls.
Sip Margaret’s signature wine
Spend an afternoon stopping at Margaret’s cellar doors, known for their world-class wines and unique tasting experiences. Taste wine from the barrel, pair wine with a six-course lunch and visit the region’s oldest vineyard.
Visit a chocolate factory
Taste decadent chocolates at the award-winning Margaret River Chocolate Co., a favourite among locals (and travellers with a sweet tooth!). The sweet treats make the perfect souvenir, too.
Walk the Cape to Cape
The multi-day Cape to Cape Track traverses rugged beaches, towering cliffs and vivid green forest. Get back to nature and spend a couple of hours or a full day exploring a section of this incredible track.
Day 3: Margaret River Town
Gourmet produce meets outdoor adventures in the heart of Margaret River. Spend your final day exploring the cute township.
Join a bushtucker canoe tour
Paddle along an idyllic river on a bushtucker canoe tour. You’ll paddle past forested kangaroo habitats, learn the history of the area’s first inhabitants and enjoy an authentic bush tucker lunch of 20 unique native tastings.
Go on a coastal adventure
Immerse yourself in the coastline on a unique coasteering adventure. From rock jumping to bouncing around in the waves, this is a must-do for aquatic adrenaline-seekers. You might even spot sea lions basking on the granite rocks.
Sample refreshing ales
Australia is home to some great breweries, many of which you’ll find dotted around Margaret River. Balance out your beverage tasting by ordering a paddle of distinctly Aussie lagers, pale ales and more.
Go to a music gig
Settle in for the evening at the laid-back Settlers Tavern; it's a great spot for a casual dinner. If you’re visiting over the weekend, don’t miss their live music events showcasing an eclectic mix of international artists.
